5/12/08: Emerging issues with downloading the Public Preview on Windows Vista

We have become aware that some Windows Vista users may be experiencing some difficulty downloading the Public Preview. We will be updating the download proceedure for Windows as soon as we can in order to eradicate these issues. As soon as the download has been updated we will post an announcement on this page. Windows XP is unaffected by this.

   
   

Issue with product activation and "Service Install Failed" error

Operating System affected: Windows Vista, Windows XP

In some circumstances the product activation may fail with an error reporting "Service Install Failed". This is caused by the user having insuffucient privileges to start a Windows service called "ASTSRV.exe" which is needed in order for product activation to proceed. The solution is to log in as an administrator and go to C:\Windows\System32 and locate the filed named "ASTSRV.exe". You should then right-click on this file and select "Run as...". In the dialog which appears choose an account name with Administrator privileges and enter the password for that account. Then proceed with the activation as detailed in the instructions.
   
   

Known issue with certain configurations of Windows Vista

Operating System affected: Windows Vista

We have become aware of an issue with Windows Vista that can cause Dive Routes to fail to be saved. If you are affected by this issue copy your entire WreckSight Scapa Flow installation which is located in the ADUS folder in Program Files and paste it into another location such as your Desktop or Documents folder. You should then run the software by double-clicking the WreckSight icon in the folder that you pasted and not from the original folder or from any shortcuts on your desktop or Start menu. Please note that this is a temporary fix for this issue and we are working to bring you an updated version of the application which resolves this issue as soon as possible. Customers will be notified by email when this update becomes available.
