WreckSight brings to you unique visualisation of shipwrecks derived from high resolution multibeam sonar data.  WreckSight images can be provided as 2D prints or 3D models, viewable on a computer with WreckSight’s own software.  You can then virtually explore your chosen wreck on the screen.

WreckSight is a development of ADUS, a company set up jointly by the Universities of St Andrews and Dundee to undertake high definition surveys of wrecks and other man-made structures underwater.

The ADUS approach is to use bathymetric survey equipment deployed in novel ways to maximise the potential of the sonar system in different environments.  Currently ADUS is engaged in research with the Salvage and Marine Operations of the MOD to use our methodology on Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) to survey wrecks in any depth of water.

A number of UK wrecks have been surveyed by ADUS so far. We have 2D and 3D images of the seven German WWI wrecks in Scapa Flow, together with the site of the Bayern, where four turrets sit upside down on the seabed.  The Royal Oak in Scapa Bay was also surveyed in order to monitor its deterioration in collaboration with Salvage and Marine Operations.

We plan to survey the diveable wrecks in the Sound of Mull and, later in the year, we hope to survey some of the more popular wrecks along the south coast of England.  Any suggestions for wrecks to survey would be welcome.

WreckSight is a new venture and we are interested in feedback from divers and others interested in our products.  If you would like to see a particular facility added to the WreckSight software, or would like images or data on a specific wreck, then please email us to let us know.
